Decorating Ideas for Nylon Hanging Butterflies
Butterflies signify peace and tranquility, leaving children and adults in awe of their beauty--why not use them to accessorize and brighten up a room or event? There are many ideas for decorating with nylon butterflies and there are tons of wonderful things you can do with them to add flair to your home or any place you want to have a peaceful setting.
Sprucing up your living space is possible without spending a lot of money. Adding one or two things can create a drastic change, particularly in a small space like the bathroom. A few nylon butterflies can transform your private space into a serene area to take a long bubble bath. Because they are bendable, nylon butterflies can be affixed to the wall, put on a shelf, or hung for a dramatic and calming affect.
How about using the crystal beaded butterflies for your dining area? Are you planning a dinner party? A table setting with soft pastel colors and mini butterflies for napkin holders changes your plain table into a fun place to sit down and enjoy a meal with friends. You can dangle a butterfly or two from a ceiling fan, chandelier, or even the ceiling to add an extra special touch to the room.
Are you searching for a great party theme? The handmade decorations with sequins and matching glitter will bring life to any baby shower, wedding shower, or even a birthday party. Decorating can be as simple or elaborate as you'd like. How about butterflies on the cake to match the hanging decorations?
When considering decorating with butterflies, don't leave out the little boys. No room with an outdoor theme would be complete without the beautiful little bendable creatures. With so many different colors to choose from, the room won't be too "girly" for your little man.
With Mother's Day coming soon, why not fix breakfast for mom and add little butterflies to the breakfast tray? Your mom will feel extra special that you took the time to give her a little something that she will remember. It does not matter how young or how old you are, because the charm of butterflies is timeless. Who doesn't love the beauty and serenity of a butterfly in spring?
Nylon butterflies can be used for decorating throughout the home as well as parties, but they also make special gifts. For the mom-to-be this can be an addition or inspiration for a nursery idea. For grandma this can be a gift that she will never forget. No matter how you plan on using these sparkly little bugs, they will create a lasting impression without breaking your budget. Baby Nursery Wall Murals
Tools and materials needed to paint your own DIY baby nursery wall mural:
- picture to use as your wall mural printed onto clear vellum
- an overhead projector
- a pencil or two, and some assorted colored paints
- an assortment of paint brushes in different sizes
- a drop cloth
To get started you will want to apply a fresh coat of paint to your baby's nursery. You'll want a nice background to start with. The next most important task is to find a good picture to use to base your baby nursery wall mural on. This can be one single graphic, or even combine a few different pictures. It can even be a complete scene which will cover an entire wall or two.
I would recommend hitting a local library to find the picture you are looking for. Cruise through the children's books section and just start nosing and thumbing through the books. Use the library's computers to search out books that may be appropriate to your theme. Many of these computer systems will perform a keyword search. If you are doing a jungle theme, for example, just do a search for "jungle" and see what pops up. Once you find a picture take it on over to a local copy shop. They will color copy the image for you onto translucent paper. It will probably run you under $2.50. I would recommend even getting two copies just in case. Hopefully you have an overhead projector available to you. If you do not, just ask around. You never know if any friends or family will have one available. I would also inquire about borrowing or renting one from your local library. Don't forget to check local schools or even just plain go buy one. The idea is simple. Use the overhead projector to project your chosen baby nursery wall mural image onto the wall. Use pencils to trace the pictures exactly as they look. Once the outlines and whatnot are traced on you can turn the projector off and then paint the mural using your pencil lines. Use your original picture as a reference for color and shading. You really can pull of some amazing wall art with this technique. Make sure you have an array of paints available to you. I would buy larger cans of the colors that are most prominent, and smaller jars for other colors. You can even just buy a few primary colors and mix them together to get the results you want.
Having an array of different sized brushes is key. You will want some very fine and thin brushes for areas of detail, and larger ones for shading in large areas. Always buy quality brushes. It is tempting to buy the cheapest brushes available, but these brushes always end up loosing bristles straight into your artwork. Avoid picking these bristles out and ruining your work by simply buying quality paint brushes. Easter Butterfly Decorations
Easter is coming! For the spring lover, there is no better time of year. It's time to celebrate the new growth and beauty of the season. The cold weather is breaking and before you know it, light jackets and short sleeves will make their entrance from the dark recesses of the closet. The delicate air and young blossoms call you outdoors. The feeling is unlike any other time of year.
Decorating for Easter is a yearly tradition and rite of spring. When that spring fever hits, I know the time has come to transform the inside to match the outside. I start by pulling out my favorite plants and placing them more prominently in the room. Spring isn't spring without flowers and butterflies, so they follow the path of the plants. The exquisite little nylon butterflies attached to craft wire and placed into the plants appear as though they have elegantly paused mid-flight to rest.
I like to make new fresh flower bouquets and arrangements for the season and I add the smaller nylon butterflies among the blossoms. The smaller nylon butterflies give it a similar yet different feel, so that they tie into my theme but are not repetitive. For example, in one area I will use nylon butterflies gracefully adorned with sparking jewels or crystals to catch the sunlight. In another, I use the sequined type. On occasion, I'll hang beautiful daisies or ladybugs among the butterflies for a truly magical feel. Close to Easter, we add bunny decorations and eggs into the mix for an egg hunt.
During the Easter season, we celebrate love and beauty of the soul. Pulling Easter in through the though of life renewal carries special meaning for our family and we all look forward to the season. I was thrilled this year when my daughter asked me to help decorate the kids' game room, too. Her love of my butterfly collection, especially the nylon butterflies with the jewels and sequins, led me to know exactly what we would do for the kids' game room.
We added not only the nylon butterflies and springtime decorations but also cloud wall stickers and even some beautifully decorated alphabet letters in a springtime theme. The room now shines. We created an inspiring and exciting place to enjoy the wonder and newness of spring and get ready for the fun and renewal of Easter. Ladybug Decorations: Not Just For Little Girls
When you think about little boys playing outdoors on a spring day--picking up bugs and trying to catch butterflies -- it is a moment of precious childhood that you never forget. Consider bringing the outdoors in by decorating your son's room with bumblebees, butterflies, and ladybug decorations so your little one can let his imagination soar.
Mini ladybug decorations are adorable little creatures, covered in nylon with a wire frame, that are soft and bendable. You can put all the mini bugs on the wall or scatter them throughout the room. They can be put on a doorknob with a loop or dangled from the ceiling with a piece of fishing line. They can be mixed and matched with other little bugs to convert a little boy's room into an (indoor) outdoor wonderland.
Hanging ladybug room decorations are larger than the mini bugs, but they are also soft and bendable with hand-painted black dots and glitter on the wings for a special touch. Your little one will welcome the smiling ladybugs into his collection. Put them on the wall or hang them from the ceiling.
One great decorating idea is to create a 3D outdoor wall mural. Start with a bright blue sky background adding clouds, green grass, a bright smiling sun, and even a pond. You can add a huge 3D tree, and don't forget the little bugs that all boys love, as well as frogs, reptiles, and birds. How about including a picture of your little one sitting on a tree swing? This idea can be as exciting as you make it. Ask your little man to help with the painting. Adding his special touch will make it a fun time to spend together and he will be excited and proud of his accomplishment.
Another great addition is to add stuffed birds, frogs, and other soft and fuzzy animals. Stuffed animal shaped chairs make a cozy little area for your young man's personal space.
No room would be complete without coordinated bedding. Bright, cheerful colors with matching throw rugs and curtains can transform any room without much effort. Big fluffy comforters with matching curtains are a must to complete any boy's room. Ladybug curtain tiebacks add pizzazz to an already amazing room. This little accessory can even make a plain set of curtains fun and exciting.
Consider adding different animal wall stickers, hanging bugs, or bend the ladybugs so they can sit on a shelf or a nightstand. You can affix them to the headboard or sit them on the dresser. Let your imagination go to work as you create the perfect space for your special little boy. Flutterby Butterfly Party
A butterfly birthday party is a perfect idea for a little girl. You can create a magical birthday party with a fun butterfly theme that she will never forget with these fun creative ideas. Get Ready to Flutter
Begin by stocking up on all the necessary birthday party supplies – plates, napkins, balloons – all with a butterfly theme. Check your local dollar store for these supplies at a fraction of the cost of other places. Then get your invitations ready. Cut out butterfly-shaped cards the size of a post card, and let your child decorate them with stickers. Tape the actual party invitation to the back on one side, and then mail it off. Butterfly Decorations
Draw and cut out large butterflies from poster board. Color and decorate the butterflies and hang them from the ceiling. Make large flowers to tape to the walls. Decorate the tables and walls with pastel-colored crepe paper and balloons. For a table centerpiece, fill a large vase with colorful flowers, and add tiny butterflies to the flowers. Butterfly magnets make great place holders the kids can take home. Butterfly Party Activities
A fun activity for your butterfly birthday party would be to make coffee filter butterflies. You need a clothespin, coffee filters and markers. Have the kids color sections of the coffee filters. Spritz them with water, and the colors will run together. Let them dry, and then pinch the middle of the flat coffee filter and push it up into the clothespin so that two wings seem to puff out. Add wiggly eyes and chenille stem antennae. You could also cut out wings that are large enough for the party guests in advance. Use paper bags, and cut wings from the large sides of the bags. Tape them together, and punch holes near where the wings meet so you can tie the wings on the children. Then, the guests can paint designs on the wings, and you can attach the wings to the children’s backs so they can fly around. Butterfly Birthday Cake – It’s Easy to Do
Bake a round cake according to the directions on the cake mix box. Cut the cake in half. Turn the two halves around on the cookie sheet so that the round sides touch in the middle and the wider, flat edges are pointing out. You can leave it like this, or trim the rounded edges for a more triangular look. Ice the cake in pastel colors, pipe an icing body down the middle, add licorice antennae and you have a beautiful butterfly cake. Pastel-colored ice cream completes the party. Party Food
Everyday food becomes fun when you give it a new name and add a twist. Try serving these fun foods at your butterfly party. Butterfly Nector – Combine equal parts apricot nectar (in the juice aisle) and 7-Up. Float rainbow sherbet on top. Butterfly Jewel Sandwiches – Make jelly sandwiches in a variety of colors. Use flavors such as grape, strawberry and peach. Remove crusts and cut in half on the diagonal. Place sandwiches on a small plate with the wide side facing out like wings. Add a baby carrot in the middle for the wings, raisins for eyes and licorice for wings. “Glue” in place with small dabs of jelly or icing. Garden Goodies – Celery sticks, baby carrots, mini tomatoes and tiny radishes along with dip are the perfect accompaniment to this part. Goody Bags to Go
Send the kids home with goody bags decorated with butterflies. Include items in the bag such as butterfly-shaped toys, butterfly and flower stickers or a small book on butterflies. Wrap up your party by having your child send out butterfly-themed thank-you notes. Butterfly Themed Nursery Ideas
Decorating your baby's nursery in a butterfly theme is a beautiful way to brighten the room for your baby girl. Butterflies are delicate creatures, each unique in their intricate designs and colors. There are creative ways you can bring the beauty of butterflies into the nursery in an elegant way that looks well put together and enhances the feel of the room.
Choosing Items
Choose a few key butterfly items for your nursery rather than overwhelming the room with everything butterfly-themed. Additional items can be coordinated to match the butterfly's colors. Your colors should be bright, as babies prefer these over pastels. Newborns, however, prefer black and white due to the contrast of shades, which is easier for them to see.
Hanging Butterflies
Take small hooks and screw them into the ceiling. Find large butterflies at Bugs-n-Blooms that can be hung from the hooks using fishing line. They'll fly around as the breeze hits them and delight the baby from her crib.
Wall Decals
Use butterfly wall decals to decorate the walls. Bugs-n-Blooms has vinyl wall decal stickers that are custom in your choice of colors. With a large color palette, you can match the decals to the colors in your baby's nursery. You can pick up other decals that work well with the butterfly theme, such as clouds for the ceiling or flowers for the butterflies to sit on.
Crib and Bedding
Decorate her crib with a few butterfly items and solid colors to coordinate. The bedding should be simple with a few butterfly items standing out from the rest. While the crib sheet can be a solid bold color, the blanket can be a colorful array of butterflies. The mobile is a great way to showcase hanging butterflies. Since butterflies are one of the more popular themes for babies, you'll be able to find several selections of butterfly mobiles available at their store, both online and in-store.
Butterfly Rug
Complete the room with a large butterfly rug or several smaller ones. You can find rugs that have an assortment of butterflies on them to rugs that are in the shape of a large butterfly.

Butterfly Birthday Party Ideas
Butterfly Invitations
You can use a large colorful picture of a butterfly for your butterfly birthday party invitations. Make photocopies and cut out the invitations. Include your party details on the butterfly wings.
The wording of your butterfly birthday invitations can say: "Butterflies are pretty and fly so free - come to (name of your child)'s 6th (7th, etc.) birthday tea. There will be games to play and wings to make. We will enjoy a butterfly cake. So dress up as pretty as you can be, and join the fun at (name of your child)'s Butterfly Tea." Then include all your butterfly birthday party details.
You can make butterfly party invitations more personal. Draw (with a help of your child) a butterfly on the front of the invitation card (make sure the butterfly is big enough). Then make color copies of your picture for the rest of the invitations. Write the above wording inside you invitations and mail.
Butterfly Decorations
You can create a special atmosphere with your butterfly party decorations.
Decorate a gate (or any other area in front of your house) with a banner "The Butterfly Birthday Party is Here!" Tie balloons (mylar butterfly balloons are best) to pinwheels, and then stick the pinwheels in the ground by the walkway leading to your house. Have colorful paper streamers everywhere around your backyard.
Hang nylon butterflies on strings from the ceiling inside the house. Place any butterfly related toys (e.g. flowers, bugs, etc.) around the butterfly birthday party area. Attach butterfly posters to the walls for colorful effect.
Cover your table with table cover with mini butterflies on it. You can attach colorful ribbons to flower pots, and have one or two of them for table centerpiece.
Tie a large butterfly mylar balloon to birthday child's seat. Make a huge banner "Happy Birthday (Your child's name)!", and hang it by the table area.
Butterfly Favors
For your butterfly party favors you can have such items as butterfly stickers, bean bags, butterfly hair clips, sunglasses, toy butterflies, flower seeds, gummy caterpillars, and butterfly shaped rings.
Butterfly Birthday Cake
Butterfly Cake: Bake 9" round cake and one cupcake.
Cut cake in half. Place curved edges of the cut halves side by side. This should resemble butterfly wings. Frost the cake with white icing and decorate it with candies and gumdrops.
Place the cupcake above "the wings" to resemble butterfly's head. Place licorice for antennae and gumdrops for eyes.
Butterfly Food Ideas
- Butterfly Bagels: Slice bagels in half. Split the halves again in the middle resulting in four half circles per bagel.
- Butterfly Sandwich: Cut bread in the form of butterfly wings. Add a celery stick body, cherry tomato and carrot stick antennae. Put veggie pieces on the bread for "spots".
- Butterfly Treats: Cut celery into small pieces. Fill them with peanut butter, cream cheese or other spread. Put a pretzel on each side of the celery to form wings. Use broken pretzel pieces for antennae and raisins for eyes.
- Caterpillar Gelatin: Prepare gelatin according to directions on the package. Add gummy worms - so every gelatin cube has a caterpillar. And then refrigerate.

Girl Room Decorating Ideas, Garden Theme Bedroom Decorations
Whether you opt for a room full of flowers or butterflies or go with a garden or tea party theme your daughter’s room – it’s easy to create the room of her dreams with a few creative touches. Following is a collection of garden and butterfly related theme ideas. I hope the following ideas inspire some girl room ideas of your own. Flower Power For a cool retro look think bright oranges, sunny yellows, lime greens, and watermelon pinks. Look for vibrant wall borders and fabrics with simple flower shapes. Team girl room colors up with solid colored bedding and window treatments. Use flower prints again on throw cushions and in an area rug. Go one step further and trace some of the flower shapes from the border or fabric and create random floral patterns on your child’s wall and then paint to match the colors elsewhere in her kid room. Or you could display the tops of some bright and colorful flowers in simple frames and use to bring her girl room theme together. Butterflies When it comes to girl rooms - butterflies are big! Since butterflies are a popular theme room idea for girls, the kid room decorating market offers many fun fabrics and accessories that will easily bring a butterfly theme together. A kid room mural featuring a garden and butterflies is a great place to start or you could opt for summery pink or yellow painted walls and make a butterfly comforter or quilt the focal point of the room instead. Other girl room theme ideas include painting butterflies or using reusable stickers on furniture and accenting a lampshade, curtain, thin picture frame or bulletin board with butterfly hair clips. Garden party For another take on a feminine girl room consider soft pinks, gentle violets and mellow yellows to create a garden party theme your daughter will cherish for years to come. Consider airy curtains and soft floral or thin striped fabrics. For a custom look hang your child’s curtains from a wooden dowel (painted white) to which the ends of dollar store hand tools have been affixed (remove the handles first). What about a garden trellis, a picket fence or lattice headboard? Hanging artificial flowers and butterflies from the ceiling (use fishing line and a screw eye) is also a great idea. Or how about using white lattice on the bottom half of your child’s wall and painting the top part of her walls blue and sponging on some white fluffy clouds? Alternatively you could try your hand at painting a wall mural or simply put up a ready-made one. Reusable wall stickers and a decorative wall border would also be a good way of bringing her garden party theme together. Creative storage ideas that tie in well with this girl room theme include using three extra large terra-cotta-looking plastic pots to throw toys into and a variety of individual white painted wooden pegs or peg racks for storing items in mesh bags. White painted furniture and a child’s table and chair set in a corner would be the ideal spot for a tea party with friends. Butterfly Nursery Decor
The nursery is where a baby sleeps, plays and spends a lot of time with his parents. Because of the amount of time spent in the room, decorating the nursery is important. As she grows, she'll begin to notice the things that surround her. The decor of the nursery should be comforting, relaxing and nice to look at. Butterflies are a soothing decor theme for a nursery that is appropriate for boys and girls.
Walls:
Nursery walls should be given a coat of lead-free paint. Select colors that go best with the furniture and theme of your butterfly decor. For example, if you'll be painting butterflies in flight, first paint your walls light sky blue as a background. Alternately, paint walls light pink, yellow or light green. On one wall, paint a mural of a field of flowers, then add construction-paper butterflies to give the wall a three-dimensional look. Put the butterflies up high enough that little hands can't get them. Or use a projector to light up the walls with butterfly images.
Refurbished Furniture:
To continue the theme, decorate the nursery's furniture with butterflies. Recycle an older child's bed or find a new bed at a yard sale or flea market. Wash down the bed and let it dry. Paint the frame in a light color such as white or cream. Stencil or decoupage butterflies all along the bed. Put a few on the inside so the baby can look at the butterflies. The same can be done with an old dresser.
Ceiling Butterflies:
Large nylon butterfly purchased from Bugs-n-Blooms can be hung from the ceiling using the included fishing string and eye hooks. Paint the hooks the same color as the ceiling so you can't see them. Spread the butterflies around so if the wind blows, the strings won't get tangled. Also keep them high enough off the ground that kids can't pull them or hurt themselves with them. Add some over the baby's bed in place of a mobile. Use butterflies in a variety of colors, styles at varied heights.

We have unlimited option of colors and patterns to create a Butterfly room decor because butterflies are so colorful. Any color is good for this theme room, even colors you've never see on real butterflies!
Now lets start with the walls ....
First, decide on what color the walls are gonna be for this butterfly room decor. If your Girl has a favorite color, use it. If she's too young to know what her favorite is, just pick any color you like.
Then look for two different shades of paint of that color, a lighter one and a darker one.
Even though any color suits this butterfly bedroom, but since it's a kid's room, it's best to choose colors that are not too dark for the walls. Also try to avoid too bright colors that are not comfortable for the eyes. Use dark and bright colors for accents only, for example to make butterfly wall murals
Measure up from the floor to the height of 1.1 meters and make a straight horizontal pencil line on the walls. Put masking take right below the line and paint the upper area with the lighter wall paint. After the paint dries, take off the masking tape and place another right above the line and paint the lower area with the darker wall paint.
Other option for this butterfly room decor is to use Butterfly Wallpaper. Hunt for butterfly wallpaper that comes with the color you or your girl wants, or look for simple plain or striped wallpaper and add butterfly wallpaper border as accent.
Now we'll continue this butterfly room decor by filling up the room with furniture. Since butterflies are identical with nature, it's a good idea to use wooden brown furniture for this butterfly theme room. To make the room even more alive, use wood paints to paint.
Now lets decorate the bed ...
For the bedding, look for Butterfly Bedding Set with colors that match the wall's background colors.
Other option to tone down the room a little bit if you think the room is already too crowded with butterflies is to use plain white bed sheet, plain or striped pillow shams with any soft pastel colors, and then add a

Wedding Decorating Ideas - Table Centerpieces
Creating A Wedding Centerpiece is Easy! Here's How:
1. Start by selecting an attractive clear glass container for the centerpiece. Here, an elevated bowel on a glass pedestal was used, but feel free to use a more standard style of bowl for equally lovely effects.
2. Fill the container with fresh water.
3. Select your floating candles.
4. Place the floating candles in the water. To mimic the look in the photo, crowd the candles in the container - for this particular container, four candles was about all it could hold, and we crammed them in! If you prefer a different look, use fewer candles.
5. It's the rose petals that really cap off the look in this particular centerpiece design and give it that super-romantic, super-soft visual effect. Just place the petals on water and around the candles, and be sure to also sprinkle them on the table, around the centerpiece to finish that wonderful setting!
Butterflies flutter and float gracefully atop a pretty bowl of water in this mesmerizing table centerpiece design - More of the magic which can be created simply with the use of floating candles! Use the butterfly candles on their own, or combine with floral floating candles to create additional interest within the design. Consider combining with floating candles, a perfect compliment to the look with their delicate petals. Perhaps the most popular variety of orchid, and is known as the 'butterfly orchid" because its delicate petals resemble the wing of a butterfly, unfolding in velvety color.
Bowls of flowers and floating candles make a very pretty presentation for table centerpieces, and have the added benefit of being extremely easy to assemble. Pictured above, pastel colors set the perfect tone for a spring wedding. A large silk floral bloom is immersed in an elegant clear glass bowl. In keeping with the floral theme, four floating rose-shaped candles in a combination of pastel colors float on the surface of the water. The arrangement is placed on the center of the table atop a table runner in coordinating pastel mauve. To add to the look, small flower pots of votive candles surrounded by pastel roses are placed in alternating positions along the center of the rectangular table, on both sides of the floating candle display. For a final finishing touch, faux rose petals are scattered delicately around the table.

Butterfly themed nurseries are all the rage for a newborn girl's room. The colors of this theme are shades of pinks, purples, greens and delicate yellows. These hues can evoke a sense of new life and vitality. Choosing fabrics depending on what pieces you will be sewing, you can choose from an endless array of fabrics when making bedding, window treatments, wall hangings, pillows and cushions for your new room. After you have picked your colors and fabrics, you can use a piece of each one to make a baby quilt. You may choose to keep the background solid, use the different fabrics to make the butterfly's wings and body and then sew them to the quilt. Matching butterflies can be made to use for wall hangings and pillows.
Walls
Wall colors can be decided upon by taking one or two shades from the fabrics. For a simple border idea, buy inexpensive butterfly-shape sponges from a craft store and dip them in various colors of paint that match the bedding. Stamp them up along the border of the walls. These can be easily painted over as the child grows and the decor in the room changes. Removable wall decals are also a popular and inexpensive option.
Finishing Touches
A wooden toy chest, a rocking chair stenciled with butterflies and flowers and a butterfly-shape rug will finish off the room nicely.
